The Lease Dispute Behind 28 Canon Escondido

Court Records, Surveillance Concerns, and a Sudden Exit.

Updated June 10, 2025: This page continues to received attention and raise important questions.

In 2023, a lawsuit was filed in Bernalillo County District Court involving a lease at 28 Cañon Escondido. Public records (Case No. D-202-CV-202300313) show that the tenant paid approximately $100,000 in advance for a one-year lease, including a large deposit.

During that lease period, the tenant subleased the property to a real estate couple from Texas. While living there, they discovered hidden cameras aimed directly at their bed. Shortly afterward, the property owner—who was in Mexico at the time—called them and referenced an object sitting on their dining table, something they had never disclosed to anyone.

Realizing they were being watched inside the home, the couple left immediately.

The original tenant requested a refund of the unused rent and deposit. Instead, the owner changed the locks. According to the court record, he told the tenant that if they returned to the property, they would be shot.

The matter was later settled. But the events described in the court file, and those shared by the subtenants, raise serious questions about privacy and conduct associated with this property.
